Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao says China will make more efforts to protect Intellectual Property Rights.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao says China will make more efforts to protect Intellectual Property Rights.

Liu Jianchao said on Thursday that over the past year, judicial departments have dealt with more than 9,000 IPR infringement cases and offenders are being punished more severely.

In another development, a nationwide campaign to protect IPR due to conclude in September will be extended to the end of the year.

Chinese vice Premier Wu Yi said the campaign will further target IPR infringements on food and drug brands, and crack down on pirated books, video and audio products, and software.
